Lazy Cabbage Roll

Unstuffed Cabbage (Lazy Cabbage Rolls)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or beef/pork mix)

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped

  • ½–1 cup cooked rice (your choice)

  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes

  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • Optional: 1–2 tbsp brown sugar (cuts acidity)


Instructions

  1. Brown the meat

    • In a large pot or deep skillet, brown ground meat with onion.

    • Drain excess fat if needed.

    • Add garlic, cook 30 seconds.

  2. Add cabbage

    • Stir in chopped cabbage.

    • Let it cook down 5–7 minutes until slightly softened.

  3. Sauce it

    • Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, and sugar (if using).

    • Stir well.

  4. Simmer

    • Cover and simmer on low 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. Finish

    • Stir in cooked rice.

    • Simmer another 10 minutes.
